ARWU 2021: all Italian HEIs ranked!
Outstanding results indeed for the Italian university system as a whole in the latest ARWU ranking results, released on August 16, 2021.
The ARWU ranking is released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, a Shanghai-based fully independent organisation dedicating to research on higher education intelligence and consultation.
ARWU is the most “technical” of the three major rankings (the other two being QS and THE) , as it is based on “non-interpretable” data, whose sources, unlike the other two rankings’, are available to anyone c/o ARUW’s or other websites.
Overall, from 2021 Italy lost only one ranked institution, and therefore the 2021 list is down from 46 to 45 HEIs.
But as far as the quality component is concerned, the system achieves a tremendous outcome.
