Influencer Marketing in Higher Education is on the rise.
Traditionally, institutions have relied on testimonials, be they alumni who made it, famous professors, or students. They were asked to promote their institution talking the same language of same age prospectives.
The landscape is morphing. Institutions are understanding what is the full potential of professional influencers.
In turn, they are gaining more and more visibility on the web, where they are celebrated as superstars, especially in social media such as YouTube, Instagram, and now Tik Tok.
An influencer has an engaged audience, authenticity and an ability to sway decision making and they operate much like a celebrity spokesperson but on a more targeted basis.
Meanwhile, HEIs increasingly drag on platforms such as Heartbeat to find the fitting influencer marketing in higher education. And companies such as StudyQA release webinars on how to find the most suitable influencer.
Communities as Universitybox promote products and services, besides -of course- university courses.
At the University of Central Florida, the school partnered with student and YouTuber Sonali Prabhu to produce videos promoting her experience at the school.
Meanwhile, EduTube is becoming an exact science, as Universities are looking to platforms that their target audiences spend the most time on.
