Agents 2021 (1)

Agents on the rise in Italy?

Are agents increasingly used in the World and in Italy in particular?

In the Covid-19 era, are Italian HEIs using agencies using more, or less, agencies?

According to a recent white paper released by Studyportals (https://lnkd.in/gg5vSMz), over the last three years alone the percentage of HEIs that used agencies rose from 14% to 22% worldwide.

This market is actually booming, and seemingly the impact that Covid-19 is having on it is after all positive. Due to travel restrictions, universities are today unable to send their representatives abroad to meet prospective students.

So agents are a (very) good second best.

Studyportals lists four main fetures to approach agencies in the 21st century:

  1. An attractive compensation package
  2. Turnaround times
  3. Marketing budget
  4. Flexibility

What about Italy? Here also agencies are blossoming. Up until few years ago, agencies were seen a pariah, especially within public universities.

Today, more or less 15 public universities (i.e. one fourth of the total) are using agencies, and -basically- all private institutions are, too.

On that number, one should add language schools and IBs. The whole picture, seen from an agent’s side, is not that dark today as it used to.
