Soft power as a political category is today at the very center of academic discussion. Also, at the leve of the promotion of a state’s tertiary education countries such as the UK are investing money and resources to enhance their global standing.T
There’s an international #ranking where Italy is gaining ground, and that’s the trendy softpower30.com. This ranking reports for the 30 strongest countries globally, as far as soft power is concerned.
In 2019 Italy secured the 11th place, one position up.
Among various indexes, Italy is performing well in #engagement (7th) and #culture (6th), and comes (hear, hear) 1st on polling data (#cuisine, #liveability, #luxurygood and the like).
Globally measured, soft power in Italy is 13th globally in the education index, made of a number of sub-indicators (PISA, Time Higher Education, spending as % of GDP, and number of int’l students per country, among others).
Quite an impressive result, as soft power is definitely one of the components of the international dimension of a country.
