Italy: new courses in English to attract international students
The Italian university system is awaiting for the extraordinary funds Prime Minister Mario Draghi promised as a consequence of the EU-sponsored Recovery Fund. Ministerial sources report as much as 15 billion € will inflow Italian HEIs bank accounts. I.e. more than double as much as the yearly state contribution (in the order of € 5 billion per year).
Probably galvanised by the new resources, some Italian HEIs approved new courses, many of which will be taught in English. Let’s have a look at the most promising.
Rome’s Sapienza is about to launch courses named “Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa“, “Mediterranean Archaeology” and “Biochemistry“, along with “Psychology of health for clinical and health contexts” and “Management of gastronomic sciences for well-being“, in collaboration with the University of Tuscia.
Rome Tre‘s novelties will be: a BA in “Economy and big data“, and MAs in “Mechanical engineering for the marine resources“, “Sustainable coastal and ocean engineering” and “Human sciences for the atmosphere“.
Foro Italico will launch an MA titled “Health and Physical Activity“.
The University of Udine has approved a new BA in “Internet of Things, Big Data, Machine Learning” aiming to graduate specialists for the analysis of big data using artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques.
Ca’ Foscari Universaity of Venice has approved a news BA in “Hospitality Innovation and e-Tourism“.
Three Milan-based HEIs (Statale, Bicocca and University of Pavia) joind forces for a new BSc in “Artificial Intelligence“. Bocconi, also in Milan, has already launched a BSc in “Mathematical and computing science for artificial intelligence“. This is a three-year degree to understand the machine learning tools that are revolutionising the social and natural sciences and to design new ones. Whereas IULM, as well based in Milan, released a new BSc in “Artificial intelligence, enterprise and society“.
Milan Polytechnic launches a master course called “Agricultural engineering“. The headquarters will be the center of Cremona and will be in collaboration with the Catholic University of Milan. That’s where the very first Italian agricultural engineers will come out.
Turin Polytechnic proposes a new MSc in “Science in Digital Skills for Sustainable Societal Transitions“. Also in Piedmont, Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo is releasing a new MSc in “Food culture and sustainable tourism“.
Federico II of Naples aims to increase its international exposure with 3 new MA courses that will be held in English: “Architecture and heritage“, “Biology of extreme environments“, and “Transportation engineering and mobility“.
