Italian students heading abroad?

Italian students, as reported by the Financial newspaper “Sole-24-Ore“, incresingly fancy foreign destinations. The newspaper has in fact published a remarkable “Study abroad” guide that reports all metrics highlighting the ongoing trends.

According to UNESCO, data that I collected in my last work, in 2017 Italy was the 12th Country in the world by the number of outgoing university students.

With 74,268 units, it represented the 1.45% of the world market. A market far from despicable, as well as strongly growing (from 50,290 units in 2013, to 74,268 in 2017: a 50% increase in 4 years).

The Sole-24 Ore Guide shows the most popular destinations for Italian Seeker degrees:

1. Spain
2. France
3. Austria
4. Germany
5. Switzerland
6. The Netherlands
7. Romania
8. Denmark
9. Belgium
10. Sweden

Italy is a mature and, above all, relatively rich market.

As a result, it is interesting to note that in Italy there is an emerging business. This was believed until now peculiar to the target countries of Italy’s recruitment actions.

The presence of recruitment agencies, for example.

But the recruitment fairs landscape is getting crowded: QS is in the lead, but many providers organise their circuits in Italy today.

Menawhile, the number of international students in Italy seems to slow down.

Will Italian international students eventually come back home and enroll in home universities?
