Top countries in Europe to Study

Top countries in Europe to Study is a March 2000 top ten on student choice in Europe.

Country rankings are today ubiquitous. There are rankings on brands, on soft power, on environment friendliness, and so forth.

It comes not as a surprise that rankings on where to study internationally are now being released.

Educations.com, the Swedish blog, search engine, and portal devoted to the promotion of international education, has just published an interesting “Top 10 places in Europe to study” list.

The list emerges from a survey of over 30,000 international students, and offers precious insights for prospective students interested in higher education in the top 10 countries.

The considered elements are:

  • access higher quality teaching
  • achieve my career goals
  • develop myself personally
  • experience a new culture or lifestyle
  • have an adventure
  • learn a new language
  • make new friends or widen my professional network

Clearly, the ranking accounts for elements as various as the academic experinece, and the “living” experience, that includes the added value a given state may or may not offer to an international student.

The top countries in Europe to Study are:

1. Germany

2. Switzerland

3. Sweden

4. The Netherlands

5. United Kingdom

6. Spain

7. France

8. Denmark

9. Belgium

10. Portugal

Though it’s a pity not to see Italy listed in this ranking, it comes not as a surprise either.

Globally, Italy is generally in strong demand. But the higher education system has not developed yet a clear marketing strategy and the brand “Study in Italy” apparently does not attract much abroad yet.
