Italy: university psychology courses are booming
Italy is witnessing an exceptional increase in the number of prospective students enrolling or wanting to enrol, in a university course in psychology, daily La Repubblica reports. Parallel, the number of courses offered, both in Italian and in English, is also increasing. This goes hand in hand with the rapid increase of foreign students willing to enrol in Italy for their tertiary education.
At Milan Bicocca, for AY 2021/2022 some 6,093 students applied for 620 places, with an increase of 43,% vs the previous intake. Bicocca is also offering a course in “Applied experimental Psychological Sciences”, designed to attract international students.
The University of Catania increased its availability from 250 to 350 places, witnessing a +38,3 % of applications.
The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the University of Parma joined forces to market their course in Psychology, which witnessed a + 36,7 pf applications.
Florence, as well, received an 11,7% more applications. Salento: + 6,3%. Bari: + 2,6%. Trento: + 2%.
Rome Sapienza reports an exceptional number of 3,000 applications for 650 places.
