IAU WHED the world of education at your fingertips
Each country listed in the database is divided into two sections:
1. education system and credentials;
2. higher education institutions.
The IAU WHED Portal has been THE reference tool since 1950 for national higher education authorities, government agencies and national academic bodies. Since the adoption in 2019 of the UNESCO Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education, each HEIs listed are identified with a unique identifier: the Global WHED ID.
The WHED provides the following information:
- NEW – Global WHED ID: a unique identifier for each higher education institution registered in the WHED;
- institution name in English, followed by the name in the native language, where appropriate;
- contact details: address, telephone, fax, website, a general email address where available;
- institution funding: public, private (including private for-profit) or unknown where this information is not available;
- year of creation;
- information on the academic year, admission requirements;
- language of instruction;
- name of the national competent accrediting body.
For your information, campuses and branches when they appear in the WHED are linked to the main institution.
Officers
For principal officers (head, senior administrative officer and international relations officer) name, job title and position, years in office and phone number when available.
Divisions
Academic divisions (faculties, colleges, departments, schools, institutes etc.) and fields of study are indicated when available.
Degrees
Degrees and diplomas offered at each level of study, along with fields of study when available.
Statistics and publications
The WHED offers statistical information on academic staff and student numbers when available.
