Covid chinese recruitment

Chinese recruitment post COVID-19

Chinese recruitment is slowing down everywhere in the World. In Italy, the phenomenon has already been taken into consideration.

On a yearly basis, some 2,400 Chinese students enrol in Italian HEIs. So even considering a 50% decrease -which is an optimistic call for the September 2020 intake– of the Chinese cohort, we’re talking about a net loss of 1,200 units. Is also needs to be remembered that, as elsewhere, Chinese students represent the #1 nationality for Italian HEIs.

There’s no denying the current COVID-19 pandemic has hit the international education sector hard.  Across the world, admissions and recruitment professionals are faced with a tremendous amount of uncertainty across the board.

The impact that COVID-19 and its aftermath will have on Chinese international student recruitment is particularly difficult to assess.

Uncertainties are  about the local health situation, when and how campuses are going to re-open, visas and border closures,
and increasing political tensions.

There factors are making it hard for admissions departments to plan for the intake periods ahead.
